Approach
My approach to psychotherapy is squarely grounded in Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) and the works of Albert Ellis. REBT is a practical, action-oriented approach to coping with problems and enhancing personal growth. REBT places a good deal of its focus on the present: on currently-held attitudes, painful emotions and maladaptive behaviors that can sabotage a fuller experience of life. REBT also provides people with an individualized set of proven techniques for helping them to solve problems. Mindfulness and meditation are incorporated to help retrain the mind and teach you to self-soothe. I find that hypnosis can complement this process, when indicated and desired by the client. Here’s a link to FAQs about REBT.
What can it help?
REBT is an evidence based approach to alleviate and often eliminate the symptoms of depression, anxiety, and panic attacks; manage stress; improve relationships; and even decrease pain sensations. REBT is also a wonderful learning process for those struggling with procrastination, aggression, addictions, and other maladaptive behaviors.
